With NUMBER BETS, ALL possibilities that produce the SAME NUMBER SUM TOTAL are grouped together as separate subgroups within the 36 possibilities (as shown on the chart above). Each subgroup is identified by the NUMBER sum total each of its possibilities produce. In Casino Craps, separate contests between individual subgroups and #7 are NOT affected by rolls of NUMBERS that are NOT included in each individual contest.

One of the most popular types of bets on craps tables involves contests in which any sum total of a game-number selected for the wager must appear on a subsequent roll of the dice before any of #7’s sum totals appear. In casino craps, these are contests in which #2, #3, #11 and #12 are excluded, and #7 specifically opposes #4, #5, #6, #8, #9 or #10. The bettor may choose to wage individual bets on any, or all, of numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 & 10 to roll before #7 can appear on the dice.

The following chart illustrates how the SIX (6) possibilities of #7 (6 ways the dice create #7) relate to the groups of possibilities that create the other game-numbers which are involved in these contests in opposition “AGAINST” #7.

As you can see on the preceding chart, #6 & #8 each have 5 possibilities that oppose the 6 possibilities of #7; #5 & #9 each have 4 possibilities that oppose the 6 possibilities of #7; and #4 & #10 each have 3 possibilities that oppose the 6 possibilities of #7. When #7 appears first, any and all bets that #4, #5, #6, #8, #9 or #10 would appear before #7 are forfeited to the casino.

If a number appears that is waged to roll before #7 (and #7 has not yet appeared) that individual number wins payment from the casino at a ratio based on #7's advantage over that individual number's possibility total. Winning "AGAINST" #7 wagers are paid at a ratio of either 6 to 5, 6 to 4, or 6 to 3.

For example, on a 6 to 5 winning bet "FOR" either #6 or #8, every $5 bet gets paid $6 by the casino; on a 6 to 4 winning bet "FOR" either #5 or #9, every $4 gets paid $6 by the casino; on a 6 to 3 winning bet "FOR" either #4 or #10, every $3 gets paid $6 by the casino. It is of the utmost importance that you are aware that the "pay out" ratios in these contests produce the most deceptive player "costs" in the game of craps while veiled behind a single word: "ODDS."
